Regulate.

Us. Better

Uniting business voices, to demand Government action on the crossing of Planetary Boundaries.

Businesses know that environmental breakdown means economic chaos.

But they can’t act effectively to prevent or adapt to impacts without better regulation.

New research leaves no doubt: businesses must speak up.

Right now, few UK businesses have viable transition plans – and without regulation holding all players accountable, most forward-thinking businesses cannot meet the cost of urgent decarbonisation and adaptation while remaining competitive.

Meanwhile, without an engaged, enabled business community, the Government will fail to meet its legal obligations under the Climate Change Act and Paris Accord.

Our new research shows it’s time for business to find its voice and lead on climate policy.

“There is a loud silence at the heart of UK climate policy. Businesses understand the science. Many genuinely want stronger regulation. But business lobbying efforts for more robust climate policy and regulation are not cutting through. MPs aren’t hearing it, because the message is either too quiet, too fragmented, or too vague. That silence is costing us valuable time. If we want ambitious policy that matches the scale of the crisis, business must speak not just with good intent, but with coherence, urgency and confidence. This is not a time for cautious positioning, it’s a time for business to publicly speak up and call time.”
Caroline Lucas. Former Green MP and current advisor to CMP.
